Field notes on learning AI — what works, what breaks, and what I'm testing next.

// why this site

Why AI, why now

AI tools stopped being a curiosity and started being infrastructure. The gap between people who understand how to work with them and people who don't is getting wider every month — and it's not closing on its own.

I'm learning this in public because the honest version is more useful than the polished one. For every smooth demo there are ten failed runs, wrong assumptions, and errors I had to read three times before they made sense.

This site is the notebook: principles I'm trying to hold myself to, and a field log of what I actually tested — dated, unedited, and occasionally wrong.

// how I'm working

Core principles

01 / small steps

One change at a time

You learn more from a small win you understand than a big result you can't explain.

02 / read first

Read the output

Never run what you don't understand. When something fails, read the error before asking anyone.

03 / log it

If it isn't written down, it didn't happen

The field log exists for this. Dates, tests, results — including the unflattering ones.

04 / plain talk

Ask directly

Plain questions get plain answers. No jargon, no ceremony, no pretending to know more than I do.

05 / stay curious

Curiosity outlives the tools

The tooling changes monthly. The habit of asking why is the part that keeps paying off.

LearningAIWithSilky is Tracy Weaver's notebook for figuring out AI in the open — less tutorial, more transcript. If something here helps you skip a dead end, that's the whole point.
